CBR deals a winning hand for the Nintendo Switch launch of Fairy Tail: Dungeons, the deckbuilding roguelike adventure based on the beloved FAIRY TAIL manga and anime series, developed and published by ginolabo and Kodansha Game Creators’ Lab.
Fairy Tail: Dungeons is a card-based roguelike RPG that features an “all-new story” developed exclusively for the game. Assuming control of 10 different characters, including franchise mains Lucy Heartfilia and Natsu Dragneel, players must assemble different decks to conquer foes inside a “strange, expansive dungeon that saps intruders of all their powers.”
Dungeons originally debuted as a PC-exclusive back in August 2024. Now, Kodansha has teamed up with Nintendo to bring the title to a brand-new part of the gaming community. Courtesy of a new update released alongside the Switch Edition, there will also be additional content not included in the original PC release, including five new playable characters, a new difficulty setting and more.
The first major update adds Gajeel, Juvia, Mirajane, Laxus, and Gildarts as playable characters, as well as 170+ new cards and 100+ skills to expand strategic options. Put the Guild to the test with new difficulty levels for both Labyrinth and Grand Clash modes, or focus on the story in Casual Mode.
Embark on an original story distinct from the FAIRY TAIL manga and anime series, where a mysterious dungeon appears underneath the guild that disables the powers of those who enter. After narrowly escaping death from the dungeon’s inhabitants, begin an underground rescue mission in search of their cat-like friend Labi’s imprisoned companions.
Collect tomes hidden in the depths of the labyrinthine dungeon to upgrade the team’s abilities for even better dungeon-delving in the future. Dive deeper into each labyrinth and character backstory with Expedition Records, and keep an eye out for the occasional appearance of Haru Glory from Hiro Mashima’s Rave Master series.
