Helcast, the physics-juggling merge-puzzle roguelite deckbuilder rooted in Norse mythology from developer Ricpau Studios and publisher HYPER REAL, has revealed its announcement trailer and IGN has it ready to go!
Helcast’s story puts players in the middle of a war between the Norse realms of Asgard and Helheim. Odin has decided it’s time to destroy the underworld and Helheim isn’t taking that lying down. As Modgunn, the “Bridgekeeper between life and death”, get into the fight to turn the tide of battle.
Stack a deity-destroying deck of weapons, spells and totems, then blaze a path to Odin’s doorstep while unlocking new items during every run. Drop weapons straight into the pile in classic puzzle game fashion, or charge up an arcing toss where mass, velocity, collisions and ricochets come into play before the weapon settles.

The trailer highlights the 2d retro graphics and showcases some of the atmospheric environments before diving into flashes of match puzzle gameplay that assists in battles. Uniquely fast-paced puzzle combat comes to a head with the death of Modgunn, before they end up resurrected to start the fight all over again.
Drop Totems and Spells into the arena to reshape fights in an instant. Summon a bird of prey that strikes every enemy and answers the call again each time it is hit, leave a magical ring standing to add damage to every merge, or detonate a shockwave that scatters the pile and opens lanes to weapons buried out of reach.
Helcast is out Q1 2027 on PC Via Steam, with a demo on the way that gives access to the first realm in the game, before granting entry to four more realms once Early Access is available.
