Raven Studio, a newly formed team of industry vets from Tencent and Netease gets to building on their newest title, Cats in the Shell with publishing from Infini Fun. Legendary outlet Famitsu has news on the playtest for the game!

On Steam, a limited-time playtest was held for the On Steam, Roguelite Autobattler‘ Cats In The Shell A limited-time playtest was held. Playtesting runs until July 9, 2026, and you can participate from the store page. The early access version is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2026.

‘Cats In The Shell’ is a build roguelite autobattler focused on assembling mecha. Hire cat pilots with unique abilities, assemble massive mechanical parts and modules to build machines, and take on battles…the key is to build the best structure with limited resources. Players from around the world can also challenge mechs assembled in asynchronous PvP. With battles between giant mechs, the battles are intense. Since it fights automatically, it seems like you can focus on watching the game.

The autobattle nature of the game removes some of the moment-to-moment tension and pressure of performing in fights but creates a more management-based style of gameplay that puts more strategy in the hands of gamers. Builds matter more than outright dexterity on the controller. Attention must be paid to abilities of the pilots and the strengths and weaknesses of the individual parts. The action is nonstop though and more than entertaining to watch break out.

Cats in the Shell will release in the fourth quarter of 2026 on PC via Steam.
