PC Gamer’s Joe Donnelly recently wrote that Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption is “like Dark Souls for those pressed for time.”

Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption is a boss battler action RPG from publisher Another Indie and Dark Star Game Studios, a new studio composed of AAA veterans from Ubisoft, Blizzard, Sega, and Konami. The protagonist must sacrifice part of himself before each boss, gaining a permanent debuff that makes each fight harder than the last. Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption will be released on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Q1 2018.

“Like a page torn straight from Miyazaki’s scrap book, its towering bosses, pithy protagonist and dodge rolling combat echoed that of Lordran and beyond – however its sacrificial mechanics sounded cool and unique,” said Donnelly of his reasons for getting hands-on with the game at Gamescom. He praised one of the boss battles as “haunting and terrifying and wonderful all at once.”

Steven Messner of PC Gamer also sat down with Iain Garner of Another Indie at PAX West 2017 for a video interview, embedded below.
