PC Gamer readies the quill to herald news of highly requested content in The Fief  DLC for Wartales, the medieval open-world tactical RPG with more than 1MM units sold from developer Shiro Games, available now on PC via Steam.

“Since the early days of Wartales’ early access, one request has consistently stood out from the community: owning and managing a fief,” writes developer Shiro games in a recent Steam post. “With our upcoming DLC, Contract: The Fief, we’re finally bringing that vision to life.”

The Fief adds a more strategic layer to Wartales. WIth a ruined castle and a small patch of land, you can slowly build and expand it into a thriving fortified settlement. Your fief produces resources every time your party rests as it explores the world, namely food, defence, trade goods, and knowledge. These resources can be used to satisfy your settlement’s needs, which in turn determine the speed at which your fief grows.

Expand your fief district by district, choosing central and production buildings that fulfill your population’s growing needs. As new factions emerge, scholars, peasants, nobles, and more, their influence shifts your domain’s identity toward militarism, erudition, commerce, or even criminality.

Enact laws, assign mandates, and unlock unique building effects while managing the shifting happiness of your people. Each rest cycle advances time, filling or neglecting their needs: food, security, education, and comfort.

Contract: The Fief provides an enjoyable and dynamic long-term progression system that we know fans have been hoping for,” said Quentin Lapeyre, Game Director at Shiro Games. “It ties directly into the rest system, allowing mercenaries to grow their domain without breaking the pace or spirit of the game.”
