DualShockers descends into pure horror in their preview of No Such Place, the top-down paranormal extraction shooter from developer Chilly Room coming to PC via Steam this year.

I believe the best way to explain the experience of No Such Place is to break it down into layers, much like an onion, because there is an impressive amount to unpack here.

At its core, the game is a top-down extraction shooter, and your objective is to take on reconnaissance missions as an agent of the Unknown Research Consortium (U.R.C.). Basically, you will explore every corner in search of items and supplies to extract, find crucial information to gather, and, of course, terminate unknown threats and bizarre creatures along the way.

While the premise sounds simple, No Such Place is surprisingly complex because it places this structure on top of mechanics that lean toward realism and also promote constant character evolution.

Explore the freshly expanded forest, full of vital resources and teeming with otherworldly foes. Scout for valuable loot, collecting materials to enhance mission performance and build practical facilities in the safe house, like a workbench to initiate simple crafting and dismantling efforts.

U.R.C. agents reject the concept of compatibility. Using the Corruption System, combine impossible components together to assemble a diverse and powerful weapons arsenal. Marry a motorcycle silencer with a rifle barrel or load corrupted rifle ammo into a compact pistol. Utilize the revertor tool to return corrupted items to their original state for a more stable customization experience.
