CNET recently had the opportunity to learn more about Prove You’re Human, the first-person narrative adventure about convincing an AI it’s not human from award-winning 1000xRESIST developer Sunset Visitor 斜陽過客 and Black Tabby Publishing. The article interviews the founder of Sunset Visitor, Remy Siu, and Black Tabby co-founder, Tony Howard-Arias, who discuss the inspiration and messaging behind this abstract title.
Prove You’re Human “is a game where an AI dares to dream that she’s human, and you’ve been hired to put her in her place,” Siu said. “And by you, [I mean] you the player who has undergone an operation to split their consciousness into two: one virtual consciousness, and then what we’ve been calling your corporeal other, your meat body that continues to exist outside doing things.”
The core gameplay of Prove You’re Human focuses on interacting with an AI, attempting to convince them they aren’t human by completing CAPTCHAs and other mundane tasks. Completing these tasks, however, will force you to grapple with themes like our perceptions of reality and how AI has impacted our relationship to labor.
“Games as an artistic medium almost beg questions about the nature of self and consciousness in the immersive way we interact with and embody a character,” Howard-Arias said.
Prove You’re Human is still in development, but is currently available to wishlist on Steam. For all of the latest updates on this title, make sure to follow both Sunset Visitor and Black Tabby Games on X.
