Pax Autocratica, the satirical totalitarian colony sim with FPS roguelite battles from developer Multiverse, gets an Early Access preview from Softpedia.

Pax Autocratica is a great combination of a colony sim and FPS roguelike, where your focus is to create a grand totalitarian colony. Exploring through the universe and gathering resources, expanding your home base and obliterating any enemies that come in front of you, that feels difficult, but it’s an extraordinary and very interesting experience.

The game tasks players with creating a colony shaped solely by their decisions and desires. The mashup of sim and FPS genres provide a fresh take on the base building genre that allows for more interaction in moment-to-moment gameplay. Venture out and gather resources, trade with wandering merchants, and more as the growth of the colony is of the utmost importance. In these expeditions, people can be recruited to join the colony to assist in its expansion.

Expeditions are the core of the game, and they felt the most fun to me. You can also recruit various people during these and then go back to base to harness their skills. For me, the main appeal of the game was to enter random colonies and obliterate them to smithereens. Every combat mission will usually require you to destroy a certain number of enemies and their leader, then you can grab the resources from that region. In true roguelike fashion, you also have upgrades that you can access sometimes mid-mission or at the end, although those can also be a bunch of resources. Pax Autocratica offers an incredible framework for what will most likely become a really fun totalitarian colony manager and action roguelike

Pax Autocratica is available now in Early Access on PC via Steam
