Reflecting on the past has never been more necessary than it is in UvsU: You vs You. Yahoo! Tech has the news on the release date for the upcoming puzzle platformer.

UvsU: You vs You, the dark claymation puzzle platformer where you play against your past self, launches on PC via Steam on Thursday, January 21, 2027.  Each puzzle in UvsU: You vs You is made of multiple loops, and you switch roles between an angel and a devil with seemingly conflicting goals. The angel must reach the end, and the devil must kill the angel. The twist is that every loop is recorded, so the other characters are all replaying your own past actions, and a puzzle is solved only when every character has met the goal of its loop.

The key to the game is to pay attention to both current moves and past moves, as every move matters. Get to the goal but do so knowing the next move affects future moves. Each level gets progressively more complex and requires more planning. There is also a solid amount of freedom in exploring the environments and the more attention paid to the game and the puzzles, the more that can be done in game. It’s designed to takeadvantage of the knowledge gained throughout gameplay.

The narrative is entirely textless and told through handmade, stop-motion style cutscenes. The game is made by Dietzribi, the developer behind Toodee and Topdee, whose characters begin as plasticine sculptures that are photographed and edited into game assets. Beyond the puzzle chambers, the game emphasizes non-linear exploration, environmental discovery, and knowledge-based progression in an interconnected clay world.

UvsU: You vs You  releases January 21, 2027, on PC via Steam and there is a demo available now!
