Bleeding Cool’s Gavin Sheehan went hands-on with City of the Shroud, the real-time tactical RPG and social experiment from Abyssal Arts, at PAX East last month.

Gavin mentions that City of the Shroud has a “few new tricks” as a tactical RPG. After an explanation of the Combo Wheel, he points out the more humorous elements of an otherwise serious setting.

What little we saw of the story is a blend between being humorous and making fun of the way heroes are made in RPGs and serious in the nature of what you becoming a hero to the people means in the game.

Chapter 1one of City of the Shroud will be out on PC this summer for $19.99, with a definitive edition containing all four chapters coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2019.
