MMORPG.com steps into the role of a Tank in Don’t Lose Aggro, the single-player action roguelite inspired by MMO raids without the guild commitments, from solo developer Oren Koren, with a demo out now on Steam.
Ever wonder what it’s like to tank in an MMO, but don’t have the time to devote to one? Don’t Lose Aggro is a roguelite that aims to give that experience, but in a single-player roguelike.
According to the Steam listing, you’ll play as the Tank, protecting your companions from waves and waves of enemies, all while gaining new abilities to upgrade your kit with each successful run. Keeping your companions alive is key, like any good Tank would aim to do, but Don’t Lose Aggro also lets you “go full hard-core” and let your companions die behind you, leaving you all alone to face down every enemy as they spawn.
Don’t Lose Aggro aims to erase the barrier to entry and help lead a Tanking renaissance. Created by solo developer and 15-year tanking veteran Oren Koren, Don’t Lose Aggro recreates the entire tanking experience in a single-player action roguelite. Develop core skills like aggro management, cooldown rotations, and party coordination without the social pressure of set times to be online, guild drama, or the inevitable blame game when a party wipes.
Equip different shield types to play as different Tank archetypes, like the righteous Crusader, inspired by classic paladins, and Vice Grip, turning incoming aggro into a punishing damage source. Experiment with different abilities and builds, upgrading core skills by spending talent points as a reward for successful runs.
