PSU’s Michael Harradence showcases the debut of mask-wearing protagonist Jolene in Phantom Hellcat, the dynamic perspective changing hack-and-slash action adventure from publisher All in! Games’ new internal development studio Ironbird Creations. Unveiled at GamesCom Opening Night Light 2022, Jolene’s adventure revolves around a cryptic theater with a sinister secret.
Phantom Hellcat is set agains the backdrop of a mysterious theatre, with Jolene having to master her mother’s craft to navigate through various plays and upstage the Trickster to save her family.
Along the way, players will explore treacherous fantasy worlds ripe with dynamic hack-‘n-slash combat, mixing 3D and 2D perspectives and unlocking new abilities by disguising yourself with wearable masks. You can also replay stages to hoover up collectibles and uncover hidden treasures.
The theater is quickly revealed as a demonic prison. When one of the theater’s otherworldly seals fail, powerful demons from another dimension pour through and abduct Jolene’s mother, leaving her to learn the familial art of using upgradeable masks to navigate an unknown world.
