PC Gamer’s Ted Litchfield faces the terrors lurking in the shadows in the latest content update for CULTIC, the horror-inspired cult FPS from developer Jasozz Games and publisher 3D Realms.

Revealed during the Realms Deep 2023 showcase, which featured over four hours of action-packed titles such as Phantom Fury, Ion Fury: Aftershock, Wrath: Aeon of Ruin and more. CULTIC: Interlude is a free update that adds a new story map that bridges the gap between the first and second chapters. Players will also find a revolver with a satisfying kick and shields that can be picked up from enemies.

Litchfield describes CULTIC as a perfect October game, “a retro shooter with a uniquely saturated, comic book look that’s been dithered all to hell, with gameplay like a weird hybrid of Blood and Resident Evil 4.”

“The new Interlude level seems to be an urban area overtaken by the first episode’s demon worshiping baddies, which makes for a nice contrast with the alpine wildernesses and ancient ruins we’ve seen so far,” explains Litchfield, “It’s not quite what I expected to see on the other side of the hell portal you step through at the end of episode one, but I’m always down for more Cultic.”
