Time to invest in a good pair of cleats, as GamesBeta’s Rachel Kaser learned from Gamescom Latam. As appropriate for football-loving Brazil, she was treated to the surprise hot launch of Football Heroes League, the free-to-play tactical soccer game with heroes, skills, and over-the-top multiplayer action from AAA veterans formerly of Treyarch, EA, and Pandemic Games at Run Games. The fast and fantastical multiplayer football game is now out in Early Access on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with plans for a mobile and console launch with Version 1.0.
Football Heroes League is a follow-up on Run’s previous mobile game, Football Heroes Online. It’s a multiplayer title with onlin 2v2, 3v3, 4v4 and ranked matches. Players can choose from several characters, each with their own superpowers and abilities. These can include not only fancy kicks and midfield defense, but also robots to defend goals.
The game also features tactical gameplay, with easy-to-use controls that mimic the real sport. The early access launch includes five heroes, with more to come as the early access period continues. The game is free-to-play, with a paid All Character Bundle featuring skins, emotes and recolors.
Each of the flashy heroes of Football Heroes League come kitted with unique abilities and playstyles, making the game comparable as a cross between Rocket League‘s extreme ball-handling physics and Overwatch‘s hero-centric combat abilities and tactics focus. Hero abilities include everything from magnetically controlling the ball itself to throwing robotic minions around to remotely defend a position or stun an opposing player at an opportune moment. At launch, Football Heroes League comes with five unique heroes.
