IGN reported on the new release date and title for Dying Light 2 Stay Human, the highly anticipated sequel to developer Techland’s award-winning open-world survival horror action game Dying Light. The game will launch on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.

Joe Skrebels and Matt Kim of IGN delve into the gameplay trailer:

Techland premiered a new gameplay trailer that showed off the current state of Dying Light 2 along with a new story synopsis. Players will take control of Aiden Cauldwell, a survivor trying to piece together his past. Three factions are vying for power over the scraps of civilization. Aiden can work for or against each of these factions to help shape your story. But at night all three factions are at the mercy of the zombies.

The new gameplay trailer showed some core mechanics like the parkour traversal, as well as the day and night cycle. While zombies roam freely during the night, their nests are empty, and venturing into these dangerous areas could reap great rewards.

Combat can be tailored to your playstyle, whether that’s focusing on melee, guns, or crafting. The world is also full of different NPCs you can choose to ally with or turn against. And it looks like Aiden might have to race against the time if he wants to stay human.

Both the new title and release date were officially confirmed in today’s Dying 2 Know stream. Pre-orders are also available, and Techland announced three different editions, Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s edition. The Collector’s Edition comes with physical goods like a figure, flashlight, artbook, and steelbook case.

Anyone who pre-orders Dying Light 2 will receive the digital Reload Pack which includes a unique outfit, weapon, and paraglider skin.

The developers say that even players who haven’t played the first Dying Light can dive into the sequel. However, for anyone who wants to get fully caught up, Techland announced a Platinum Edition of Dying Light which includes all the DLC released so far.
